Case Studies

Advancing AI, Measurement, and Assessment System Innovation initiative aims to:

  • elevate opportunities for joint efforts to develop and harness best practices in assessment, measurement, AI, and data;

  • ensure that design, technology, and policy innovations better serve the needs of students, workers, educators, families, and society; and

  • deepen partnerships among leading public and philanthropic funders to strengthen a shared understanding of high-leverage approaches for data, AI, and measurement and assessment system R&D.

The following case studies and exemplars explore new approaches to quality, measurement, and learning by focusing on four critical themes:

1. Innovating For Whom We Measure: Assessments must be redesigned to center the needs of learners, educators, and families.

2. Innovating What We Measure: We must capture a more holistic vision of the skills and knowledge learners need.

3. Innovating How We Measure: To measure what matters most, we must unlock new advances in measurement, AI, and technology.

4. Upgrading Quality & Explainability: In the age of AI, we must upgrade outdated criteria for quality.
